Our privacy policy

We may collect the following types of information:

• Full name, email address, phone number, and physical address
• Billing and payment information (excluding full credit card numbers, which are handled by secure payment gateways)
• Order history and product preferences
• IP address, browser type, and device information
• Interaction data (e.g. clicks, pages visited, and time spent on pages)

Information is collected through:

• Website forms (checkout, sign-up, contact forms)
• Account registration and order placement
• Cookies and tracking tools (for analytics and ads)
• Direct communications (e.g., email, phone)
• Third-party services (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel)

Conductor collects precise location (GPS) and approximate location from your device. For each reading we record the latitude and longitude, the accuracy, speed and heading, the time it was taken, and the trip and your role on it. We collect this from both car owners and passengers.

Conductor collects location data in the background — that is, while the app is closed or not in use. Background collection is limited to trips you have joined. It begins up to 30 minutes before your scheduled pickup time, continues while the trip is running, and stops when the trip ends or is cancelled. We do not collect your location between trips. Whenever background collection is active, Android shows a persistent notification reading "Conductor — trip in progress". If that notification is not on screen, we are not collecting your location in the background.

We use your location to:

• Confirm that a trip actually happened, by comparing the car owner's and the passenger's location readings for the same trip — this decides whether a fare is released to the car owner or refunded to the passenger
• Resolve disputes about what happened on a trip
• Detect route deviation during a trip, as a safety measure
• Power the SOS safety feature
• Show maps, search for places, and estimate routes and travel times when you plan or view a trip
• Improve the service through aggregate analysis of routes and timing

We do not sell your location data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share it only:

• With the other people on your trip — a car owner and their passengers can see location information relevant to that shared journey
• With your emergency contacts, if you trigger SOS — this sends a live location link to the contacts you chose and alerts our safety team, and happens only when you trigger it
• With Google Maps Platform, to render maps, search places and calculate routes and travel times — these requests are made through Conductor's servers
• With service providers who host and operate our infrastructure, and may process this data only on our instructions
• Where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users

We keep trip location records for 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Records that form part of an unresolved dispute or safety investigation are held until that matter is concluded, and deleted afterwards.

You can turn off location permission at any time in your device settings (Settings, then Apps, then Conductor, then Permissions, then Location), and Conductor will stop collecting your location. Turning it off means we cannot confirm your attendance on a trip, which affects whether fares are released or refunded, and disables SOS live location. The rest of the app continues to work. You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and the location data attached to it, at support@conductor.ng.

We use your personal information to:

• Process orders and deliver products
• Provide customer support
• Improve our website, products, and services
• Manage your account
• Detect fraud and ensure compliance with laws

We may send promotional emails and newsletters with your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the “unsubscribe” link in our emails or by contacting us directly.

We use tools like Google Ads, Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Ads, and other third-party platforms to show relevant ads to users. These platforms may use cookies or tracking pixels to tailor ads based on your behavior on our site.

You can adjust ad preferences via your browser or device settings.

We may share your information with:

• Service Providers who help us deliver our services (e.g., payment processors, couriers, marketing platforms)
• Overseas Service Providers, including those based outside Nigeria, where necessary for service delivery. We ensure all third-party providers comply with data protection standards.

We retain your information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, including legal and accounting obligations, or until you request its erasure.

Your data is stored on secure servers and protected using industry-standard security measures, including:

• HTTPS encryption
• Secure WordPress plugins
• Limited administrative access

Despite these efforts, no system can guarantee 100% security. We advise users to keep passwords secure.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as biometric data or health records. If you voluntarily provide such information, you consent to our processing of it in accordance with this policy.

You may request to access or update the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at the email below.

You can request that we delete your data at any time, subject to legal or contractual obligations requiring retention.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page with a revised “Effective Date.” Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
